Greetings, friends! It is an incredibly busy time of year for many of us, especially parents and teachers. The combination of spring sports, end-of-year events at school, graduations, parties, cookouts, and family gatherings have us running ragged. The change of seasons, springtime allergies, and even the recent super-moon/lunar eclipse combo might have you feeling a little chaotic. There is a special kind of tired that comes with carrying a heavy mental load, keeping track of our busy schedules, and for some of us, socializing itself can be exhausting. If there is any time when taking pause for self-care, mindfulness, and contemplation is important, now is that time.
First, a studio update. The insulation is completely done and the walls and ceiling are being installed. There is a new set of stairs and landing at the exterior door, and the parking lot and driveway have been finished and look beautiful! Putting up a pine ceiling is labor intensive, so it is taking more time than we expected. I am very impatient to have it done. I had hoped that my first class of the season would be held in my new space, but my students and I are eager to start, and I am not willing to put off our classes just for the space, especially when the weather is beautiful and there is nothing wrong with meditating under that big, blue sky.
So… the first yoga class of the year will be held on Saturday, June 19th at 9:00 am. It will be an outdoor class, so I will not be capping the number of students, since there is more than enough open grass space for everyone. This means there will be NO online booking for this class and no need to RSVP in any way. Just show up! I will be asking for a $10 donation per person for this class, which you can pay in cash before or after the class.
This will be a restorative session, which means long, slow movements, and lots of time to settle into each pose. I will also offer lots of modifications and suggestions for how to make poses work for your body type so that the entire class is accessible to all. If you have a strap, block, or cushion that might help you to prop or support you during the class, please bring them. Even a small folded or rolled blanket can be very useful for making yourself comfortable. A belt or scarf makes a perfect strap! Be ready to breathe, relax, and release.
~Namaste
